Jurgen Klopp today hailed Mario Gotze as ‘extraordinary’ – but remains tight-lipped on Liverpool’s planned move for the World Cup winner.
Gotze could move to Anfield for as little as £20 million this summer as the Germany international seeks a reunion with Klopp in a bid to end his Bayern Munich nightmare.
The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena under Pep Guardiola and is understood to be keen on a move to the Reds in the close season.
But while Klopp remains effusive in his praise for Gotze, who rose to prominence during his time in charge at Borussia Dortmund, the Liverpool manager refused to confirm or deny any planned interest in the player.
He said: “We can talk about Joel Matip or something else, but not Mario
“I am happy that he put in a good performance yesterday but there is nothing to add from my side.”
“He’s a player with extraordinary abilities and wants to return to full fitness after four months on the sidelines.”
