Kevin Mirallas has seen his loan spell with Olympiacos terminated early.
Mirallas rejoined his former club in January after falling out of favour at Everton but made minimal impact with just two goals in 13 appearances.
Last month the 30-year-old admitted he wanted to seal a permanent move to the Greek Superleague side, who had the option of a £5.3 million clause.
But reports in Mirallas’ native Belgium have claimed that Olympiacos have instead elected to send him back to Merseyside ahead of schedule.
The ‘Erythrolefkoi’ chose to end the agreement ahead of their final match of the current campaign on Sunday evening against Giannina.
Belgium international Mirallas signed a new three-year contract last season which extended his stay at Goodison Park until the summer of 2020.
However the forward is expected to be among the key departures from Everton this summer after falling out of favour earlier this term.
Both he and Morgan Schneiderlin hit the headlines in November over claims of poor attitude during a training session at the club’s Finch Farm base.
