Everton FC defender Brendan Galloway joins West Brom on loan

Brendan Galloway has joined West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan.

The Everton defender linked up with the Premier League club after turning down a similar deal with Championship newcomers Newcastle United.

Rafael Benitez’s plans to make Galloway’s stay in the North East a permanent one is understood to have been a barrier to a proposed switch.

He was allowed to pursue first-team football away from the Blues following the signing of Wales captain Ashley Williams earlier this month.

“I’m delighted. It’s a great club and I’m really looking forward to getting started,” Galloway told the Baggies’ official website.

“My aims are to play and work hard for the team and help win as many matches as I can, it’s all about winning.

“I think for me personally, it’s really important to gain more experience. Coming here is the perfect opportunity to do that.

“I can’t wait to get started and put the shirt on.”
