Ronald Koeman has revealed that Everton have already made plans should they lose Romelu Lukaku this summer despite receiving no offers for the striker.
Lukaku’s former club Chelsea hare retained an interested in the Belgium international all summer but have yet to make a tangible offer for him.
With 12 days remaining before the transfer window shuts, the Blues face an anxious wait as to whether Lukaku will remain at Goodison Park.
Koeman is no stranger to the situation, having faced the threat of losing players at Southampton but insists that Lukaku’s future remains unchanged.
He said: “We need to wait two more weeks to be sure about his future.
“I have two plans – one is with Lukaku and one is without Lukaku.
“There is a lot of interest for him we know. He’s a good player.
“You can’t win it if really it is a big team who spend a lot of money for an Everton player or a Southampton player.
“I had the same story in Southampton but there was not really that big bid on the table and, still now, there is no big bid on the table.”
The Dutchman also confirmed that Everton have already drawn up a list of targets that could fill the void in the event of Lukaku’s prospective departure.
“Yes, I think we can use [another top striker] and need one more in that position,” added Koeman.
“Of course we have names in mind because if not, that’s not good.
“I don’t talk too much about this because we will see in the coming two weeks whether or not it happens.”
