Alisher Usmanov denies plans to invest in Everton FC

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov has denied claims he is planning to invest in Everton.

The Russian billionaire was reportedly preparing to sell his stake in the north Londoners, where he has been embroiled in a power struggle with Stan Kroenke.

His former business associate Farhad Moshiri parted with his shares in the Gunners as he became the Blues’ majority backer earlier this year.

But a statement from Usmanov’s Red and White Holdings, which owns a 30 per cent stake in Arsenal, has refuted claims he will be joining the Goodison Park hierarchy.

“Contrary to some speculative media reports, Red and White Holdings would like to state that Mr. Alisher Usmanov does not intend to sell his stake in Arsenal Holdings Plc (“Arsenal”),” it read.

“Mr. Usmanov continues to be committed to Arsenal and considers his stake in the Club as a long-term investment for his family and future generations.”
