Everton are preparing to open talks in a bid to extend Romelu Lukaku’s stay with the club.
Interest in the Belgium international has intensifed in recent months with former club Chelsea currently leading the pursuit of his services.
But the Daily Express claim that Blues hierarchy are planning to hold negotiations to tie Lukaku’s long-term future to Goodison Park.
Chelsea’s pursuit of the 23-year-old has angered Everton officials, who have insist they will not welcome any unsolicited approach from the London club.
Wilfried Bony had been touted as a likely replacement for Lukaku as part of John Stones’ prospective transfer to Manchester City.
But Everton remain intent on retaining Lukaku as their first-choice striker.
