Friedkins consider ex-PL manager as Everton hire

The Friedkin Group are reportedly considering Maurizio Sarri as a future Everton manager.

An agreement for the American investors to take over Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% share at Goodison Park was struck on Monday subject to regulatory approval.

But reports in Italy suggest that Dan Friedkin is already setting his sights on a potential future hire for the Blues and has earmarked ex-Chelsea boss Sarri.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian coach is under consideration after being out of work since resigning from Lazio in March last year.

Were Sarri to take the reins on Merseyside, he is expected to reunite with his former fitness coach Daniele Tognaccini, who worked under him at Juventus.

The 65-year-old, who won the Europa League in his time at Stamford Bridge, recently admitted he was targeting a return to management before January.

“I hope to do so before January,” Sarri told Gazetta dello Sport.

“But it depends on the situations and the offers I receive, the motivations and the call that will give me more adrenaline. I don’t see myself at the last dance.

“I still want to coach and I think I am in a situation to give something.”
