Everton FC secure Kieran Dowell’s future with long-term deal

Kieran Dowell has committed his long-term future to Everton, stuff with the midfielder signing a new three-year deal.

Long-touted as one to watch in the Blues academy ranks, patient the 18-year-old playmaker made his Premier League debut in Everton’s 2-1 home victory over Bournemouth in April after excelling for David Unsworth’s under-21 side throughout the campaign.

The England youth international then went on to star in an impressive 69-minute cameo in the Blues’ 3-0 final day win over Norwich City.

And Everton officials have moved quickly to offer the technical gifted youngster improved terms to extend his current contract that will see him remain at Goodison Park until at least 2019.

He said: “It’s a huge day for me and I’m delighted. I found out it might happen at the end of the season, healing then I’ve come back from a holiday and it was all ready to be sorted.

“You could say it’s just the beginning. All the work you put in during your time with the Academy is towards getting your first professional contract, but this really makes me feel like part of the team.

“At moments like this, whether it’s signing a contract or making your first appearances for the club, you look back and wonder if you’d be here without your family, friends and especially the staff here.

“I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve all done for me so far.”
