Everton FC appoint Patrick Lodewijks as new goalkeeping coach

Everton have confirmed the arrival of Patrick Lodewijks as their new first-team goalkeeping coach.

The 49-year-old worked with Ronald Koeman at Feyenoord and will join Erwin Koeman and Jan Kluitenberg as part of the Dutchman’s new-look Blues backroom upon completion of the necessary documentation.

Lodewijks made 374 appearances during an extensive 20-year career in Dutch football, playing for PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord amongst others.

Upon retirement, the new Blues recruit forged a coaching career with the Rotterdam-based club, holding a position on the backroom team until this summer.

The Eindhoven-born coach, who has  also worked with the Dutch under-21 team, replaces Inaki Bergara at Finch Farm after the 54-year-old Spaniard left the club as part of Roberto Martinez’s dismissal as manager.

Everton also hope to have a new Director of Football in place before the official opening of the summer transfer window on July 1.
