Everton confirm final Goodison friendly

Everton have confirmed their final pre-season friendly at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche’s side will depart their spiritual abode of over 133 years next summer in favour of a new 52,888-seater home at Bramley-Moore Dock.

As part of their pre-season preparations, the Blues will take on AS Roma at Goodison on August 10; a week before the new Premier League campaign.

The Serie A giants’ trip to Merseyside coincides with owners The Friedkin Group entering into an exclusivity agreement to potentially take over Everton.

Existing majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is currently engaged with the Texan-based investors over the prospect of selling his 94.1% stake.

If a deal is concluded between the Dan Friedkin-led outfit and the British-Iranian billionaire, Everton will join Roma in the Americans’ stable of clubs.

Dyche’s players will kick off their schedule for the new season with a friendly against captain Seamus Coleman’s former club Sligo Rovers on July 19.

That will be followed by a hat-trick of UK-based friendlies against Salford City, Coventry City and Preston North End between July 27 and August 3.
