Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori has emerged as a transfer target for Barcelona.
Fresh from pursuing fellow Blues centre-back John Stones, the newly-crowned La Liga champions have now reportedly turned their attention to the Argentina international during his country’s run in the Copa America.
Catalan newspaper Sport claim that Funes Mori is on a shortlist of potential defensive reinforcements for Barcelona this summer and was recently tracked by members of the Camp Nou hierarchy.
Robert Fernandez, the club’s sporting director, is said to have kept tabs on the 25-year-old in Argentina’s Copa America quarter-final win over Venezuela.
But the Barca chief insists that a move for the former River Plate defender, who joined Everton for £9.5 million last summer, is not immediately forthcoming.
“He’s a good player and we’ve known him well for a long time,” Fernandez admitted.
“But we’re not going to sign him this summer.”
