Everton lodge appeal against points deduction

Everton have lodged an appeal against their Premier League points deduction.

Top-flight chiefs hit the Goodison Park club with an automatic 10-point penalty after they were found guilty of breaching its Profit and Sustainability rules.

A new independent panel is now set to be formed to determine whether the Blues’ sanction will stand in full or be reduced in the appeals’ process.

The verdict of that original landmark ruling, the biggest in Premier League history, is expected to arrive before the end of the current 2023/24 campaign.

“Everton Football Club has today lodged with the chair of the Premier League’s judicial panel its appeal of the decision by a Premier League commission to impose a 10-point deduction on the club,” confirmed a club statement.

“An appeal board will now be appointed to hear the case.”

Everton’s Fan Advisory Board has also written to Premier League chair Alisson Brittain asking for supporters’ views to be taken into account.
