Dominic Calvert-Lewin believes his partnership with Beto will be a work in progress.
The Everton strikers were paired together during Saturday’s loss to Luton Town which left Sean Dyche’s side still looking for a home win of the season.
Calvert-Lewin previously claimed he and Beto will be able to ‘bully’ opposition defences but struggled to make an impact as the Blues chased the game.
And the former England international admits that the potentially blossoming understanding with his Portuguese cohort is likely to take some time to gel.
“It will take a bit of time to learn how each other works and how we operate,” said Calvert-Lewin.
“I think it is always difficult when you are chasing a game like that and the ball is just getting pumped forward; it is a different phase of the game to if we were to start a game together.
“We are both big, strong lads, and we expect to cause problems up front.”
Calvert-Lewin made his first home start of the season in Goodison Park’s latest defeat but feels that Everton’s chance creation is a sign for optimism.
He added: “I have obviously been watching the earlier games in the season, and we have been creating chances, which is the most important thing.
“It is down to me and the other forwards to be in there to put them in the back of the net. The issue is if we weren’t creating chances.
“It is a positive for me looking at it, knowing that coming into games there will be chances for me; it is down to me to be in there to put them in the back of the net.”
