Everton saw four players depart on an underwhelming deadline day.

Neal Maupay secured a temporary exit from Goodison Park after barely 12 months to reunite with former club Brentford on a season-long loan.

The French striker’s prospects left after his prospects with Sean Dyche’s side had suffered a downturn following the arrivals of Beto and Youssef Chermiti.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin, meanwhile, ended his injury-plagued spell with the Blues as the midfielder terminated his Blues’ contract to become a free agent.

The Ivory Coast international arrived from Mainz but played just eight times before embarking on loan spells with CSKA Moscow and Trabzonspor.

Homegrown striker Tom Cannon became another permanent exit as he joined Championship side Leicester City in a deal understood to be worth £7 million.

Rounding off a quartet of moves away from the blue half of Merseyside was Alex Iwobi, who will again work under former manager Marco Silva at Fulham.

A deal sheet for the Nigerian’s £22 million return to the capital was submitted in advance of Friday’s 11pm cut-off, allowing time to finalise the move.

But Dyche was still frustrated in efforts to add further width to his squad despite retaining an interest in want-away Leeds winger Wilfried Gnonto.
