James Tarkowski believes it is only a matter of time before Everton hit the goal trail.

Saturday’s opening Premier League defeat to Fulham saw Sean Dyche’s side create a glut of scoring chances before being later punished by their visitors.

Neal Maupay was guilty of spurning those best openings as he led the line while Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to work his way back to full fitness.

But Tarkowski believes that the Blues are already showing signs that they will soon put those chances away, irrespective of additional attacking signings.

He said: “There is a whole department who is there to look at signing players.

“I think from my perspective, we are just here to play with the players we have got right now.

“We have got some very good players, and hopefully we will have Dom back soon, and we signed Youssef [Chermiti] now as well, so there are options there already.

“There are a lot of options already for us and very good players.

“We are making the chances, so I am sure we will start putting them in the back of the net.

“Sometimes it just takes someone to score a scruffy goal, where it just hits the shin and rolls in, and before you know it, you are set off on a bit of a streak.

“We had a few games last year where we scored goals, so we will find a way.

“It is on us to work hard on the training ground to keep putting the ball in the back of the net, and then on the training ground it happens as well.”
