Everton fans stage second board protest

Everton fans held a second protest against the club’s beleaguered board.

Pressure is continuing to mount on the Goodison Park hierarchy following a tumultuous start to 2023 which has been engulfed by drama and chaos.

The Blues failed to make a single addition during the January transfer window while also allowing Anthony Gordon to join Newcastle for an initial £40 million.

Board members stayed away from last month’s loss to Southampton due to alleged threats but none had been reported directly to Merseyside Police.

Thousands of supporters marched from The Royal Oak pub on Spellow Lane towards Goodison shortly before Saturday’s clash with Arsenal.

Chants of ‘back the team, sack the board’ rang out as banners calling for the departure of the hierarchy, who missed a second home game, were unfurled.

Chairman Bill Kenwright, CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale, finance director Grant Ingles and Graeme Sharp were all absent for Sean Dyche’s first game.
