Cristiano Ronaldo has been cautioned by police after smashing an Everton fan’s phone.

Ronaldo appeared to slap the device out of Jacob Harding’s hand as he left the pitch following Manchester United’s defeat at Goodison Park on April 9.

The 37-year-old apologised to the 14-year-old, who is autistic, but was later interviewed by police under caution over alleged assault and criminal damage.

“We can confirm that a 37-year-old man voluntarily attended and was interviewed under caution in relation to an allegation of assault and criminal damage,” confirmed Merseyside Police in a statement.

“The allegation relates to an incident following the Everton v Manchester United football match at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April.

“The matter has been dealt with by way of conditional caution. The matter has now concluded.”

Meanwhile, Everton have announced that two supporters have been banned from Goodison following incidents at their opening day defeat to Chelsea.

One person received a lengthy stadium ban while another will be unable to attend matches pending the conclusion of Merseyside Police’s own inquries.

Goodison chiefs confirmed that ‘a small number of incidents that were deemed unacceptable’ had taken place during the game on August 6.

“Everyone attending, working or taking part in a football match has the right to feel safe, valued and included and the club encourages all supporters to continue to play their part,” read a club statement.

“If you witness any form of harassment or discriminatory behaviour at a match or around Goodison Park, please report it.

“This can be done by speaking to a club steward, a Police officer or Everton’s dedicated confidential reporting lines.

“Supporters can report any incidents to the Stadium Safety Team immediately by texting HELP and details of what has been witnessed and where to 84300, or by email to reportit@evertonfc.com.”
