Everton set to release £80M worth of players

Everton will release £80 million worth of players this summer.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fabian Delph and Cenk Tosun are all set to depart from the Goodison Park outfit when their respective contracts expire on June 30.

Sigurdsson became the Blues’ record signing when he arrived from Swansea City in summer 2017 as one of three No.10s signed in that transfer window.

The Iceland international scored 31 goals in 156 appearances for the club but did not feature for the club throughout the previous 2021/22 campaign.

Delph, an £8M arrival from Manchester City, played 41 times during an injury-plagued spell but featured in Everton’s successful battle against relegation.

Tosun was signed during Sam Allardyce’s tenure and scored nine goals in 50 outings while also spending loan spells with Crystal Palace and Besiktas.

Also leaving Everton will be Jonjoe Kenny after the homegrown right-back declined terms on a fresh contract to seek ‘a new opportunity elsewhere’.

Frank Lampard’s side have extended backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic’s deal by 12 months and offered similar terms to fellow stand-in Andy Lonergan.
