Everton FC aim to unveil Ronald Koeman as new manager ‘in next 24 hours’

Everton are hoping to name Ronald Koeman as their new manager in the next 24 hours.

Talks between Koeman and the Blues are set to continue as the club’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri looks to pursuade the 53-year-old to leave Southampton.

And De Telegraaf claim that the Saints boss could be unveiled as Roberto Martinez’s successor at Goodison Park before the end of this weekend.

Ex-Everton defender Alan Stubbs believes that Koeman is the perfect choice to take the reins.

The newly-appointed Rotheram United manager was a member of the Goodison backroom staff prior to leaving in 2013 and sees the Barcelona legend as the ideal candidate to lead his former club forward.

“I think he is the perfect candidate. If I had a choice as an Everton fan, which I am, my number one target would have been Ronald Koeman,” Stubbs told TalkSport.

“I thought a couple of weeks ago it wasn’t going to happen but you know how quickly things can change in football and if Everton manage to do the deal, it is a brilliant appointment.

“It is a crossroads for Everton right now but Ronald Koeman is the perfect choice to take the club forward.

“He is an exciting manager, he has done fantastic in the Premier League and his profile and demeanour is one that would really connect with the Everton fans.”
