Richarlison is set to face a Football Association probe after throwing a flare off the pitch during Everton’s win over Chelsea.
The Brazil international discarded a blue smoke canister thrown onto the pitch following his 46th minute strike that settled Sunday’s Premier League clash.
Referee Kevin Friend took no immediate action against Richarlison for the act, which saw him throw the object behind the goal at the Gwladys Street End.
But Wembley chiefs are set to probe the 24-year-old’s actions which could see him receive a written warning or, in an extreme case, a three-match ban.
Goodison Park officials insist Richarlison, whose goal helped keep Everton’s top-flight survival bid alive, had picked up the flare as an act of public safety.
“We will look into the matter,” said a club spokesman.
“As far we we are concerned, Richarlison was attempting to throw it out of the ground.”
The FA previously contacted Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott after he was pictured with a flare after his side’s Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea.
