Everton have confirmed Kevin Thelwell as their new Director of Football.
Thelwell succeeds Marcel Brands, who quit his post in December, in taking a general lead on all areas of the footballing operations at Goodison Park.
The 48-year-old arrives fresh from a two-year stint as Head of Sport at New York Red Bulls and was Wolves’ sporting director between 2016 and 2020.
He spent a combined 12 years at Molineux, first as academy manager before being tasked with overseeing the club’s recruitment and football development.
Players that Thelwell is credited with helping Wolves identify and sign include Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Leander Dendoncker, Adama Traore and Conor Coady.
“Following a rigorous search and recruitment process Kevin was the stand-out candidate to become our new Director of Football,” said Blues chairman Bill Kenwright.
“He brings quality and experience and an outstanding track record for developing young players.
“We all look forward to welcoming him to Everton.”
