Godfrey ruled out for Everton until March

Everton defender Ben Godfrey is set to be sidelined until March.

Godfrey limped out during the first half of last Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round win over Brentford with a hamstring issue and left Goodison Park on crutches.

The England international underwent a scan and it has now been confirmed that he suffered a hamstring tear in the eventual 4-1 victory for the Blues.

Frank Lampard admitted ahead of his side’s Premier League trip to Newcastle United that Godfrey is likely to be missing for between four and five weeks.

The Everton manager also revealed that midfield duo Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph are still several weeks away from returning to action.

“Ben came back from his scan this morning and will be a four to five week injury, hamstring injury. We hope without any issues,” said Lampard.

“Doucoure is still three to four weeks away. Fabian Delph is four to five weeks away, to give you all the rundowns.”
