Rafael Benitez is on the verge of being sacked as Everton’s manager.
Saturday’s 2-1 reversal to Premier League strugglers Norwich City condemned the former Liverpool boss to just one win in his side’s previous 13 matches.
A handful of travelling Blues supporters attempted to confront Benitez at Carrow Road, with one making a beeline for him during the first half.
Away fans also displayed a banner with the words ‘Benitez get out of our club’ and repeatedly sang ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ in his direction.
The 61-year-old has been backed in the transfer market by Farhad Moshiri, with Vitalii Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson and Anwar El Ghazi all signing this month.
But his side’s dismal run has left Benitez at the mercy of the Goodison Park hierarchy, who are set to discuss his fate at an emergency board meeting.
Asked post-match about his Everton future, the Spaniard said: “I am a professional and I have enough experience.
“I came here to fix issues that were coming from the last five years.
“What I have to do now is analyse the mistakes we are making and make sure we avoid that for the future.
“The rest is not in my hands.”
