Everton have completed the signing of Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev.
Mykolenko signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison Park on Saturday after a deal of around £17 million was struck with the Ukrainian champions.
Rafael Benitez identified the 22-year-old, who helped his country reach the quarter finals of Euro 2020, as an interchangeable options across the defence.
“I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League,” said Mykolenko.
“English football is where the game was born and I think that it will suit my game very well.
“I am 22 but I don’t feel like a youngster. I have experience of playing at European level and hope I will continue to improve as a player.
“I am excited about the opportunity of playing in front of our supporters at Everton. I have seen the last few games at Goodison Park and they were unbelievable.”
The left-back became the first addition of what Benitez hopes will be ‘two or three’ new faces joining the Blues throughout the January transfer window.
Rangers defender Nathan Patterson remains a long-term target, having been rebuffed by the Scottish giants with a series of failed bids just last summer.
But Mykolenko’s arrival is expected to signal an end to Lucas Digne’s spell with Everton after he had fallen out of favour with Benitez early last month.
Two of the ex-Liverpool manager’s former employers have expressed interest in signing the highly-rated France international, 28, in Inter Milan and Napoli.
A loan deal is likely to be accepted but only on the condition that any suitors commit to an obligation to making Digne’s departure permanent this summer.
