Jean-Luc Vasseur has become the new manager of Everton Women.
Vasseur succeeds Willie Kirk, who left the Goodison Park club earlier this month following a poor start to the season, on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 52-year-old joins the Blues after guiding Lyon Feminin to the Champions League as part of an incredible five-trophy haul his first season at their helm.
He has already visited Everton’s Finch Farm base and the women’s purpose-built stadium at Walton Hall Park alongside managing director Alan McTavish.
Vasseur explained how the strength of his new employers’ ambition was a driving factor in his decision to agree to sign on with the WSL mainstays.
He said: “It’s an honour to be here at Everton, which is such a famous club in England.
“I spoke with Sarvar Ismailov [Everton Women Sporting and Commercial Director] and he told me this is a big club with a big history and an amazing future.
“I’ve come here to write new history with Everton and to win titles. We have a lot of talent and resources so I think there is good capacity to improve.
“I have the ambition to build a team that can achieve Champions League qualification.
“We have to be patient and fight to win.”
