Everton have confirmed the signing of ex-Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon.
Rondon worked with new Blues’ manager Rafael Benitez across two spells, both at St James’ Park and with Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Professional.
The Venezuela international moves to Goodison Park in order to provide cover for first-choice striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and fellow attacker Richarlison.
Rondon’s free transfer before Tuesday’s deadline took Everton’s total summer intake to five players despite spending only £1.5 million in the market itself.
“I’m really glad to be back in the Premier League,” said the 31-year-old.
“It’s a competition I enjoyed playing in and where I felt the fans’ support in every game.
“Defending the colours of a club with a history as rich as Everton’s fills me with pride.
“I can’t wait to pull on the shirt and be reunited with Rafa Benítez, a coach who has changed the way I understand the game.
“I’m really grateful for the faith he’s shown in me.”
