Moise Kean seals initial loan return to Juventus

Everton striker Moise Kean has rejoined his former club Juventus on loan.

Kean moved to Goodison Park in summer 2019 from the Serie A giants for a deal worth in the region of £29 million but struggled to cement a first-team role.

The Italy international spent the previous campaign on loan with Paris Saint-Germain after failing to force his way into compatriot Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

He featured just twice for the Blues this term, with his final of 39 appearances in all competitions culminating in a sending-off at Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup.

Everton will receive £6m for allowing Kean’s two-year loan spell with Juve, who will have an obligation to buy him for around £24m at the end of June 2023.

A further £2.5m could also be payable if the 21-year-old meets a series of targets during his time back in Turin, taking the deal up to £32.5m in total.

Kean’s departure was followed on deadline day by Niels Nkounkou, who joined Belgian Pro League outfit Standard Liege on loan for the rest of this season.

Nkounkou moved to Everton last summer following three years with Marseille in his homeland and was handed his debut by Ancelotti within weeks of his arrival.

But the left-back’s first-team opportunities as Lucas Digne’s understudy saw him restricted to just six senior outings last term and one in the current campaign.
