Frank de Boer ‘keen’ on taking Everton FC manager’s role

Former Ajax manager Frank de Boer is ‘keen’ on taking the reins at Everton.

Barcelona legend de Boer continues to featured in the running for Goodison Park’s vacant hot seat as the search for Roberto Martinez’s successor continues.

And Ronald de Boer has confirmed that his brother, 45, would welcome the chance to lead the Blues despite the 45-year-old yet to receive any approaches from the club.

He said: “Frank is keen. If he has a chance to be in the Premier League, then he will want to take it. Everton are a big club and it would be a challenge.

“But I know for sure he would take the job if offered but that’s up to the management at Everton. He is probably on their list.

“He has to wait and see what the management does at the club, but I hope he will get the job.”

De Boer is reported to be part of a shortlist of potential candidates under consideration by Everton, including ex-Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, Southampton boss Ronald Koeman and Unai Emery of Sevilla.

However Ronald de Boer feels that should the Toffees opt to make a move for his brother, the former Netherlands captain is perfectly equipped for the task.

“Frank is more than capable of managing a team like Everton in the Premier League,” he added.

“He has enough experience. But he hasn’t spoken to Everton.”
