Everton chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale has been appointed to help oversee a fan-led review into football.
Culture secretary Oliver Dowden commissioned the new panel in the wake of last month’s attempt by six English clubs to form a European Super League.
Professor Barrett-Baxendale’s inclusion on the 10-person board comes after the Blues were among the more vocal critics of the controversial breakaway.
A statement issued by the Goodison Park club slammed the ‘preposterous arrogance’ of the Premier League clubs in pursuing the short-lived plot.
Chaired by former sports minister Tracey Crouch, the group will consult fans on issues of ownership, governance and financial distribution in the game.
“This expert panel brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the football family to shape the future of our national game,” said Dowden.
“Their job will be to listen to fans and ensure their views are at the heart of reforms on governance, finance and improving day to day experience of supporters.
“Football is nothing without fans, and today we deliver on our promise to put them in the driving seat.”
Also named on the panel were ex-Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson as well as former Southport secretary James Tedford, now head of football operations at Chelsea Women.
