Alisson has paid tribute to Everton after scoring an historic goal for Liverpool.
The Brazil international became the first-ever goalkeeper in the Anfield club’s 129-year existence to find the net during Sunday’s late win over West Brom.
His remarkable achievement came just months after coping with the devastating loss of his father Jose in a tragic accident in their homeland.
And Alisson was quick to acknowledge the support he had received from the Reds’ local rivals and Carlo Ancelotti following the heartbreaking news.
“I am too emotional – this last month – everything that happened with me and my family – but football is my life,” he told Sky Sports.
“I have played since I remember as a human being with my father. I hope he was here to see it. I am sure he is celebrating.
“I hope my father is watching and celebrating somewhere. I am really happy – thank you for the players as we fight a lot.”
He added: “You can’t explain a lot of things in life but God put his hand on my head today.
“I have been away from interviews for a long time because when I talk about it I get emotional.
“But to all of you who sent me letters, like Everton and Ancelotti – [Manchester] City – I want to say thank you – if it wasn’t for you I could never get through this.
“This is the way God loves us – through people. I want to say thank you to everyone for helping me through this. I don’t know how to celebrate!”
