Everton fans are set to return for this season’s last two Premier League games.
Top flight chiefs have written to all 20 clubs outlining the Government’s plans to relax restrictions for supporters attending matches following May 17.
As many as 10,000 fans will be permitted to attend the Blues’ final home fixture against Wolves on May 17 with 500 of them belonging to the visitors.
Under the plans, followers of Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be present for their closing match of the campaign away to champions-elect Manchester City.
According to The Times, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has also urged host clubs to abide by the existing £30 price cap for away tickets.
In the letter, Masters says: “Government has informed us that, as Covid-19 indicators continue to improve, it is planning to relax the ‘no away fans’ stipulation from the Stage Five Guidance, governing the playing of our final match rounds in season 2020-21.
“The return of fans and ultimately full stadiums remains our primary goal, therefore our view is that we must accept the opportunity to host as wide a range of supporters as possible.
“That being the case, the Executive proposes an away ticket allocation of 5 per cent of available capacity (a maximum of 500 away fans) at round 37 and 38 matches, respecting the £30 away ticket price cap.”
The move will still require clearance from Safety Advisory Groups, who grant permission for games to go ahead in accordance with the local authorities.
Everton fans were last inside Goodison Park on December 23, when 2,000 saw their team lose a Carabao Cup quarter final against Manchester United.
