Farhad Moshiri has pledged to give Everton ‘whatever I have’ after becoming the club’s majority shareholder.
The Iranian billionaire took in his first game since acquiring a 49.9 per cent stake in the Blues during Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Chelsea.
And speaking after the game, Moshiri spoke of his pleasure at joining the Goodison Park board and how the victory confirmed for him that the victory over Guus Hiddink’s side confirmed he had made the correct decision to invest the club.
“I felt it today. It is a great club,” he told Everton TV.
“We just enjoy the day [at Wembley] and let’s hope we can energise the club. You can never take over a club. You become part of it and that’s what I’m hoping – to become part of a club.
“For me I bought into a new family and that’s what is special for me. I give them whatever I have.”
Chairman Bill Kenwright, who accompanied Moshiri on his directorial bow, hailed Roberto Martinez’s part in taking the club to a Wembley semi-final following a turbulent week for the Everton manager.
“You can’t hide the fact that there’s been all kinds of criticism this week,” admitted Kenwright.
“But he [Martínez] has just stood firm and beaten Chelsea with some to spare.
“It was magnificent. It was everything I promised Farhad.”
