Carlo Ancelotti has challenged Everton to finally break their Anfield hoodoo.
The Blues head into Saturday’s 238th Merseyside derby with Liverpool bidding to end a winless run behind enemy lines that dates back to September 1999.
Jurgen Klopp’s side welcome their local rivals following a hat-trick of defeats in the Premier League on home soil which broke a previous 68-game streak.
And Ancelotti believes this weekend’s meeting between the teams could be an opportune moment for his players to emerge victorious from the fixture.
He said: “Every derby you play for Everton against Liverpool, you want to win, of course.
“It is a long time that Everton was able to win a derby and it can be the right time tomorrow.
“It could be the right time, but it depends on what we are able to do on the pitch tomorrow, only this.
“I don’t think we feel pressure [of not winning against Liverpool for so long].
“I think we are better [now] compared to the past so I think we can have more opportunity to get a result.”
Everton will be without Yerry Mina for the showdown against the defending league champions as he faces up to four week out with a calf injury.
