Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss Everton’s trip to Wolves with a hamstring injury.
Calvert-Lewin was one of several first-team players rested by Carlo Ancelotti for his side’s FA Cup third round win over Rotherham United last weekend.
However the England international is now a confirmed absence for the game at Molineux due to a problem sustained ahead of the Blues’ defeat to West Ham.
“He had a little problem during the week before West Ham,” confirmed Ancelotti.
“The fact that he’d never had this kind of injury before meant he was not able to judge himself 100 per cent [to play].
“He played the game against West Ham so this means it’s not a really important injury. but we want to keep him safe and when he comes back, to be 100%.”
He added: “Without an important player like Dominic, we have to be able to replace him in a different way. We have to adapt.
“For sure will be less dangerous on crosses but we can be more dangerous with the final pass.”
In Calvert-Lewin’s absence, Cenk Tosun will continue to lead the line for Everton after opening the scoring against the Championship outfit.
Ancelotti also revealed on Monday that the Turkey international has no case to answer with the Football Association over his goal celebration in the tie.
He said: “Cenk did well against Rotherham.
“He scored two goals [one offside], he was focused in the box. He was out for a long time so his condition is not at the top [level].
“But, of course, it will be useful to have a player who scores goals.”
