Bill Kenwright makes Everton fan gesture

Bill Kenwright has donated his seats for Everton’s final home games of 2020.

The Blues chairman made the gesture ahead of supporters making their first return to Goodison Park this weekend since March’s coronavirus outbreak.

Saturday’s visit of Chelsea will see 2,000 fans given a first glimpse of Carlo Ancelotti’s side on home soil since last season’s draw with Manchester United.

Kenwright explained his reason for offering up a pair of seats in the directors’ box to be included in ballots for the club’s remaining matches in December.

He said: “While it’s been a privilege to be in the very small minority of those able to attend games this season as everyone has said, it really hasn’t been the same without supporters there.

“Of course, the highs and lows have still been there, but not being able to share them with other Evertonians has meant a consistent feeling of sadness for me from the moment I arrived at each stadium. Especially Goodison.

“Hopefully this period is coming to an end and we can soon be fully back to enjoying matches played as they should be – with all of us together.

“Now though, and as a small number of fans are to be allowed back, I want to make this gesture.

“While it will be a different experience for the 2,000 on Saturday I know they’ll all be thrilled to be back home and, to the two who get my seats, give them a cheer for me!”
