Manchester United asked for their weekend trip to Everton to be rescheduled.
Saturday’s lunchtime clash at Goodison Park sees Carlo Ancelotti’s side looking to arrest a slump of consecutive Premier League defeats.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed on Wednesday that the Red Devils lobbied for their impending meeting with the Blues was pushed back by 24 hours.
The United manager admitted the timing of the game, coming on the back of a Champions League match at Istanbul Basaksehir may impact his line-up choices.
“It might have an impact on the team selection and subs we make depending on the game of course,” said Solskjaer.
“12.30pm on a Saturday doesn’t help us but that’s what the Champions League gives to you.
“It gives you a challenge because you want to be in this competition playing in midweek and we’ve just got to take it as it comes.
“We asked for a Sunday game but there was absolutely no help to get that.”
United will travel to Goodison again on the week commencing December 21 to contest their Carabao Cup quarter-final encounter.
