Veteran Everton midfielder Gareth Barry picked up the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season accoldes at the Toffees end of season awards.
The Blues award ceremony was due to take place on Thursday evening, however it was postponed following the dismissal of manager Roberto Martinez, and the event is due to take place before the start of the 2016-17.
However Barry, and others, were given their awards follow Sunday’s home win over Norwich City at the end of what has been a disappointing season at Goodison Park.
Former England international Barry spoke of his pride at being handed the double award, particularly given the level of quality in the current Everton team.
“It’s fantastic. It was great for me to be nominated and win these awards.”
“If you look at the talent in our dressing room, for me to be chosen as the Player of the Season, it means a lot to me”, added the 35 year-old.
Belgian striker Romelu was rewarded for his 25-goal season by collecting the club’s Young Player of the Season Award and Goal of the Season Award for his spectacular FA Cup strike against Chelsea.
Tim Howard, who played his final game for the club against Norwich, was honoured for his ten years of service to the club with the Chairman’s Blueblood Award.
“I know the history of the club. I’m leaving tomorrow but this will always be my home”, said the former USA international.
Youngster Joe Williams won the club’s Under 21 Player of the Year Award, following his impressive seaon with David Unsworth’s Under 21 side.
