Everton handed boost for Leicester City clash

Everton have been handed a injury boost ahead of Leicester City’s visit.

Yerry Mina is back in contention for the meeting with Brendan Rodgers’ side just weeks after it was feared his Blues’ season had been practically ended.

The defender suffered a thigh injury at the beginning of June and was expected to sit out the remaining weeks of the current campaign.

But Colombia international Mina returned to training last week with the extent of his issue proving less serious than the initial prognosis had suggested.

Also making tangible steps on the road to rehabilitation is another expected long term lay-off in Theo Walcott, who underwent abdominal surgery.

But the former England winger will not resume sessions at Finch Farm until next Monday while on-loan defender Djibril Sidibe is set to return on Friday.

Carlo Ancelotti also confirmed on Tuesday that Fabian Delph is yet to fully recover from a muscle strain which forced him out of training on June 11.

He said: “Only Yerry Mina is back.

“Sidibe will be back on Friday, and Theo Walcott will be back in training on Monday.

“Fabian Delph is still injured and is doing individual sessions. I don’t know exactly when he can recover properly.

“I think it’s really important [to have players back] because now we begin a period where we are going to have a lot of games.

“It will be important to have the whole squad available.”
