An Everton first-team player has reported potential coronavirus symptoms.
The unnamed member of Carlo Ancelotti’s side has been placed in a period of self-isolation after reporting a high temperature on Thursday to club officials.
Additionally, the Blues have chosen to lock down all official club premises including Goodison Park, Finch Farm and their Liver Building headquarters.
Players have been advised to stay away from all club sites until further notice.
“The step has been taken after a first-team player reported symptoms consistent with coronavirus,” read an Everton statement.
“The club is in regular contact with the player in question and is monitoring the wellbeing of all players and staff.”
The Premier League has suspended its fixtures until April 3 after several players and coaches displayed COVID-19 symptons in the last 24 hours.
Ex-Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta, now Arsenal boss, and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi have both tested positive for the virus on Thursday night.
Three Leicester City players also displayed symptoms consistent with the global pandemic ahead of this weekend’s round of Premier League games.
