Ancelotti rules out Manchester City transfer

Carlo Ancelotti has ended Manchester City’s hopes of signing Mason Holgate.

The Premier League champions are reportedly plotting a £30 million bid for Everton’s highly-rated defender as part of their summer overhaul.

Former Blues centre-back John Stones emerged as a potential makeweight in any deal despite only leaving Goodison Park just under four years ago.

However Ancelotti insists that Holgate, now an established first-teamer, will be not be going anywhere despite the interest from Pep Guardiola’s side.

He said: “I think it’s a rumour.

“But if it’s not a rumour I can say Mason Holgate is an important part of the future of Everton.

“There is no possibility he can go to another club.

“Zero possibility, like my friend [Jose] Mourinho says. Zero.”

Meanwhile Everton are still sweating on Lucas Digne’s availability ahead of their clash with Manchester United at Goodison on Sunday afternoon.

Digne missed last weekend’s defeat at Arsenal with a calf injury and will be subject to a late fitness test after training individually in the past few days.

However Theo Walcott, who was also absent from the trip to the Emirates Stadium, has been cleared to feature against the Red Devils.

“Theo is fit, he doesn’t have a problem,” confirmed Ancelotti.

“Lucas Digne is training individually, he had a little problem on his calf in the last week. We’re going to check tomorrow.”
