Laing O’Rourke set to deliver Bramley-Moore

Everton have appointed Laing O’Rourke to build their new waterfront stadium.

The construction giant previously delivered major projects including the Etihad Stadium, London’s Olympic Stadium and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Away from sports arenas, Laing were also intergral in the completion of the Liverpool One shopping and leisure complex, which opened a decade ago.

Now, the firm are set to work on the Blues’ new home at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Planning permission for the 52,000-capacity site was submitted in December and is scheduled to be signed off at the beginning of the 2023/23 campaign.

Goodison Park officials named Laing as their preferred contractor as part of a pre-construction services agreement for a design and build contract.

“Appointing Laing O’Rourke is another important step towards delivering a new world-class waterfront stadium for Everton,” said CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale.

“We are partnering with an organisation who bring a wealth of experience and a track-record of quality, sustainability and global delivery, including major investment projects right here in Liverpool.

“There is still a lot of work to do on this project.

“Working alongside colleagues at Laing O’Rourke we will develop our construction programme, while at the same time continuing to engage with our supporters on a number of matters as we await our planning application to be determined by Liverpool City Council.”

A timetable uploaded to the Council’s website forecasts that Everton will begin construction on the first of its four-tiered stands by the end of this year.

Final tests are currently due to be completed by September 9, 2023.
