Everton have agreed a naming rights option on their new stadium with USM.
The holding company of Alisher Usmanov will pay £30 million for the option of matching naming rights for the proposed new arena at Bramley-Moore Dock.
USM previously bought the rights to rebrand the Blues’ Finch Farm training base while subsidiary Megafon began sponsoring the club’s training kits this season.
Usmanov recently admitted that he would be open to investing in Everton and hinted at doing so through their new ground in the north Liverpool docks.
Goodison Park chiefs confirmed in Tuesday’s General Meeting that overall spending has now crept up to the Premier League’s maximum threshold.
The league’s sustainability rules dictate that clubs cannot make more than a £105m loss in a three-year period, with Everton currently standing at £94m.
However CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale insists that the latest set of accounts are an indication of their plans to operate in a financially responsible manner.
She said: “The accounts released today reflect our ambition and position as a club in the early stages of an investment programme.
“We have been aware of and planned for the impact the investment would have on our short-term profitability.
“But this is part of a long-term business plan that demonstrates our commitment to operating in a financially sustainable manner.”
