Carlo Ancelotti insists Everton are not thinking about January signings yet.
A host of the Champions League-winning coach’s former players have been linked with moves to Goodison Park following his appointment this month.
James Rodriguez and Dries Mertens are currently among the list of elite-level names being mentioned as potential incomings for the Blues next month.
But Ancelotti has cooled the speculation by revealing he only plans to discuss transfer plans with Everton’s hierarchy after the FA Cup clash with Liverpool.
He said: “The market is not open yet but there are a lot of rumours.
“That is normal. Everywhere in the world is like this. In Italy it’s the same.
“We are not looking for [signings] in this moment because we started on the 26th [of December] with two games and have another two.
“After January 5th we’re going to have a meeting with the club and decide if it’s possible to try to improve the squad that in my opinion is a good squad.
“Some players I didn’t know really well and now with training, staying together, I have a better relationship. I know them better.
“Maybe after January 5th we can discuss this.”
Everton will aim to record a third straight win under their new manager in Wednesday’s trip to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
Although Pep Guardiola’s side have floundered in their defence of the title, Ancelotti revealed the great admiration he holds for his opposite number.
“Pep is a fantastic manager,” he admitted.
“I have a good relationship with him. We met some times, not a lot in games, but we had a conference in Italy.
“I have a good relationship and a lot of respect for his job because he is a genius.
“He’s always tried to do something special on the pitch.”
