Roberto Martinez could be sacked before Everton FC face Norwich City

Under-fire Everton manager Roberto Martinez could be sacked before Sunday’s visit of Norwich City.

The Goodison Park board of directors will meet later this week to discuss the fate of the former Wigan boss, who continues to face pressure from supporters as the Blues continue to underperform this season.

New majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is expected to have the final say on Martinez’s fate and could depose of the Catalan before their final Premier League fixture of this season, against the Canaries.

It had previously been expected that Everton would review Martinez’s position at the club following this weekend, although a series of poor performances in recent weeks are understood to have forced a rethink.

Saturday’s 3-1 reversal to newly-crowned champions Leicester City means that Martinez’s side have now won just one of their last nine matches, with the club slumping to 12th in the table as a result.

Supporters again voiced their anger during the defeat at the King Power Stadium and Goodison officials are braced for what threatens to be a toxic atmosphere on the final day of the season.

As a result, a decision will now be made as to whether Martinez will take charge of Sunday’s game.
