Bundesliga left-back on Everton’s radar

Everton are among a host of European clubs tracking Augsburg’s Philipp Max.

The left-back position continues to be an issue for the Blues, who were keen to add in the position in the January transfer window but failed to do so.

That failure forced Cuco Martina to deputise in the position as first-choice option Leighton Baines continues to struggle with injuries this season.

But reports in Germany claim that Sam Allardyce is preparing to address the problem this summer with Max emerging as an attainable target.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye this season with a series of impressive performances seeing him rack up 11 assists in 21 Bundesliga games to date.

That form has caught the eye of several clubs across the continent, who SportBild claim are now keeping tabs on the player ahead of the summer.

Alongside Everton’s interest, RB Leipzig, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United are also credited as prospective suitors for the player.

Max would cost in the region of £26 million should he leave the WWK Arena.
