Everton are said to be in the hunt for Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay.
Demirbay was previously credited as a target for the Blues’ local rivals Liverpool last summer as they attempted to secure Naby Keita’s release from RB Leipzig.
The Germany international remains one of the Bundesliga side’s key players as they impressed under highly-rated manager Julien Nagelsmann last season.
Now, a host of European clubs are thought to be keen on his signature with reports in his homeland claiming that Everton are set to be among them.
According to SportBild, Liverpool are also again interested in Demirbay, 24, with the potential of being on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder this summer.
Emre Can could leave Anfield on a free transfer after failing to agree a new long-term contract, with Juventus already appearing in pole-position for his services.
Everton, meanwhile, were keen on adding a holding player last month but failed to add to the position despite being regularly linked with Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi.
But both Merseyside clubs are expected to face a fight to sign Demirbay with AC Milan, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund also expected to be involved in the chase.
