Sam Allardyce admits Everton are unlikely to add further signings this month.
Arsenal stalwart Theo Walcott and Besiktas’ Cenk Tosun have both arrived at the Blues in the space of the past fortnight for a combined figure of £47 million.
Allardyce has been tipped to bolster his defensive ranks in the January window, with Bayern Munich left-back Juan Bernat linked with a move to Goodison Park.
However the Everton manager has placed a greater emphasis on trimming his current squad options with 33 first-team players current on the club’s books.
Asked whether Everton plan more incomings, Allardyce said: “No, I don’t think so.
“I think that we would be more, in terms of where we are at the moment, moving players on. The squad is too big; there’s 33 players here at the moment.
“From my point of view, that means reducing that squad number is important for me, the football club and the players that may leave.
“We don’t know which or who they are because you’re waiting for other clubs to come and show an interest.
“But certainly I think moving a few players on now is the order for us.”
Allardyce also revealed that Everton are set to welcome back Seamus Coleman to first-team training while fellow defender Michael Keane is again in contention.
“Seamus Coleman’s close to coming back. He’s back in training,” he added.
“That’s another bonus for us. Michael Keane’s back [too] so the squad is getting stronger hopefully and getting bigger.
“Certainly we need to turn our results around, starting Saturday.
“It will be interesting to see the reaction from the players after the poor 44 minutes they played in the second half at Tottenham.”
