Roberto Firmino and Mason Holgate will both be interviewed over allegations of racism in the Merseyside derby.
The claims emanated from the pair’s coming together during the first half of Liverpool’s FA Cup third round win over Everton at Anfield last Friday.
Firmino reacted angrily to the Blues defender pushing him into the stands while replays later showed Holgate claiming the Brazilian had used a racist term.
Referee Bobby Madley included the incident in his match report, noting it with his fourth official about it mid-game, but has indicated he did not hear Firmino use any racist language.
It is believed the Premier League match official would have sent the player off had he heard any such language.
But the Football Association will speak to both players about the events in the 230th derby clash before continuing with their investigation into the incident.
Merseyside Police have confirmed they are probing reports of racist comments posted by ‘a number of individuals’ on Twitter in the aftermath of the game.
Holgate deleted his account on the social media platform in the aftermath of his side’s 2-1 defeat.
