Allardyce promises Everton ‘winning’ football style

Sam Allardyce has vowed to bring a ‘winning’ style of football to Everton.

The 63-year-old was confirmed as the new Blues manager on Thursday, signing an initial 18-month contract as Ronald Koeman’s permanent successor.

Allardyce’s remit is to bring stability to Goodison Park, who sit just five points outside the Premier League’s relegation zone ahead of Huddersfield’s visit.

But his appointment has not been met with approval from Everton’s fan base, who were expecting the club to set their targets higher than the ex-England boss.

And Allardyce admits he has to win those fans over and plans to do so with a winning brand of football.

He said: “Everyone has to win over the fans.

“Whatever perception people have about me, I can do nothing about. My job is to allow the players to play to their best and their strengths.

“I’ve never played the same way at any club and I’ve managed seven in the Premier League now. All I’ve tried to do is live to club’s philosophies.

“(I’ll bring) a winning brand hopefully. We can’t play the same way every game, that’d be naive.”
