Mirallas and Schneiderlin’s Everton futures in doubt

Kevin Mirallas and Morgan Schneiderlin face uncertain Everton futures after being sent home from training.

The pair were dismissed from the club’s Finch Farm base ahead of Sunday’s emphatic win over Watford.

Schneiderlin and Mirallas were accused of a perceived lack of commitment in a session being overseen by first-team coach Duncan Ferguson.

Both players were told by Ferguson to leave the group if they were not prepared to show effort in the preparations for the Hornets’ visit.

They agreed to go inside which prompted their early departures. Neither player also featured in the squad for the game with Marco Silva’s side.

Mirallas responded to the fallout with an Instagram post on Sunday night.

“Thank you for all your messages. It’s a difficult situation for me,” he wrote.

“But in life there are things much more serious than my personal situation.”

The Belgium international’s Goodison Park career has deteriorated in recent months as he alleged that he was denied a deadline day move to West Ham.

Schneiderlin, who has struggled since his initially impressive arrival from Manchester United, chose to refute the claims.

“I have seen press stories today about me ‘being sent away from training’,” the midfielder wrote on Twitter.

“The stories are not true.

“I am fully committed to Everton and will continue to work hard for the Club and the fans in training and on the pitch.”
